Zimbabwe’s poultry industry is expanding rapidly, driven by increasing egg consumption in urban centers like Harare. To meet this demand, a local farmer approached us to design and install a high-capacity, automated layer farming system. The goal was to maximize productivity, minimize labor costs, and ensure bird welfare while adhering to a strict budget.
Customer Requirement
The customer needed a solution that could:
House 20,000 laying hens across two sheds (10,000 birds per shed).
Automate key processes like feeding, manure removal, and egg collection to reduce labor.
Ensure durability and ease of maintenance in Zimbabwe’s climate.
Optimize space and improve bird health for higher egg production.
Project Solution
We designed and installed a fully automated A-type layer chicken cage system tailored to the customer’s needs.
Equipment Details
Cage Structure:
A-Type Battery Cages (4 tiers per unit) made from high-quality galvanized steel for durability.
Each shed houses 10,000 birds, with cages arranged for optimal ventilation and lighting.
Automated Systems:
Auto Feeding System: Ensures consistent feed distribution, reducing waste and labor.
Auto Manure Removal: Belt-driven system cleans manure daily, improving hygiene and reducing ammonia levels.
Auto Egg Collection: Gentle conveyor belts transport eggs to a central collection point, minimizing breakage.
Additional Features:
Nipple drinkers for clean, efficient water supply.
Climate control options (fans, curtains) to maintain ideal temperatures.
